My 2013 had been exceptionally great. Now thinking back, I realised how much I have gained throughout the year.
For one, I've joined the big community of MDFC. The Spartan family. Picked up the joy of dancing while making amazing friends. Learnt a whole lot from them. Burned fats and grew muscles and stamina. Got bruises countless times and got my feet injured/ skin-torn at some point. But it was all worth it. This has got to be the best thing that happened to me in 2013. It just brought in so much abundance, and I believe any other Spartan members can feel the same magic. I know I've mentioned this a lot of times on my blog, but this is certainly a highlight of the year so yeah.
That aside, I've been through quite a lot with my pharmacy friends as well. The wonderful placements in Kuala Kubu Bharu, Kelana Jaya and Sunway Giza. (The food huntings and awesome people in KKB; special friendships formed in Kelana Jaya, and the professional charm of my preceptor in Sunway Giza.) Watched MUPhaS grow as we organised its first university-wide charity event - "Healthy Living, Healthy Life". Oh, not to mention the struggles through tons of group assignments, online wikis and self-study topics with the coursemates. Watched some good friends falling in and out of love and stood by them nevertheless. Met Dr.Sabrina, our new favourite lecturer who inspired us with her professionalism and the charismatic A/Prof Geoff Sussman, a wound management expert from Australia. Had a themed week ourselves and dressed up for the final week of lectures. Gotten ourselves a batch baseball shirt and wore it on the last day of exam.
Personally,
I voted in the government election for the first time.
I volunteered in a petition collecting handwritten signatures to help stop Lynas.
I finally snorkelled. Finally had an overnight experience in an intercity train.
I entered the world of smartphones - need I say more?
I suffered from food-poisoning for the first time. Vomited until I almost blacked out and deferred an assessible workshop, lol.
I dressed up for a theme day in Monash - Nerd Day - and remained in that outfit the whole day.
I learnt about individuality and autonomy. To understand my limitations and the need to set boundaries.
I had a special experience of staying home alone (with the maid) preparing for exams while missing out on stuffs as the rest of my family went abroad for my cousin's wedding. (That feeling of being absent in an almost perfect family portrait, ugh. And the little joy of being able to do revision anywhere in the house, undisturbed.)
I got super lucky in exams and finally understand how it feels like to receive a text and cry instantly, involuntarily; a scenario that you usually see in dramas/ movies.
I graduated from university, thank you very much.
And most important of all, I've risen from the almost depressive state of self-doubts and negative self-talks in a rather dull life (refer to my posts in late 2012 & early 2013), stepped out of my comfort zone and filled it with so many colours.
Yup, that pretty much sums up my awesome year of 2013.
I am truly grateful.
